Applying a range of hardware and software development lifecycle methods (waterfall, iterative and agile), and balancing the agile world of software development with the more waterfall world of hardware so that a quality hardware product is delivered and software can be iterated on top of it. Project management qualification such as Prince2, Agile, PMP or MSP desired but not essential Using standard project scheduling tools such as and GitHub. This study will primarily focus on students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, in the School of Chemistry and related Schools in the College of Science and Engineering, but results are expected to be highly relevant to other programmes across the University and UK Higher Education as a whole. Opportunity This position is an exciting opportunity for students currently studying at the University of Edinburgh to be involved in educational research and help direct teaching policies in future. This post is part time (8 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on campus working. On site work will be limited by the building opening hours (Mon Fri 8:30-17:30). Informal enquiries about this role are very welcome - you can contact Dr David August at for further information about the role. Your skills and attributes for success: Good research skills and an ability to analyse large data sets Proactive, resourceful and enthusiastic to learn new skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good organisational skills and time management Ability to work alone and in various teams As a valued member of our team, you can expect: A competitive salary. We are looking for the right people - people who want to innovate, achieve, grow and lead. We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry. Job Duties About Landmark Landmark, a Halliburton company, builds the software and data platforms that help the global energy industry make better decisions. Our products span subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, production optimization, and digital operations. These are tools used daily by engineers and scientists at the world's largest energy companies and run as cloud-native SaaS platforms and as enterprise on-premises solutions. About the Role This role spans the full early career range. We are hiring new graduates as well as engineers with up to five years of professional experience. If you are a few years in and looking for stronger mentorship, a more technically serious codebase, or a clearer growth path than your current role offers, this posting is for you. Your experience will be reflected in your level, scope, and compensation at offer. You join a delivery team and start writing production code immediately. You build software with your team that oil and gas operators use every day for real decisions. You debug issues in systems that connect to live data, write features that operators depend on, and learn how professional software teams ship quality code at scale. You receive regular guidance from experienced engineers and participate in code reviews from the start. Over time, you grow your technical skills and your understanding of the product domain, and you build the habits that make an engineer effective over the long term.
