Mainframe Datacom Engineer

Rate: £550.00 - £570.00 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Remote
Clearance Required: Eligible for BPSS

We're looking for an experienced Mainframe Datacom Engineer with strong Broadcom Datacom (CA Datacom) expertise to provide hands-on support for a large-scale enterprise Mainframe environment.

This is a specialist DBA/System Programming role focused on the ongoing support, maintenance, performance optimisation, and administration of an existing Datacom platform. The successful candidate will be expected to quickly assume ownership of BAU activities and operate with minimal supervision.

Spanish language skills are essential for this position.

• Administer and maintain Broadcom Datacom databases within IBM z/OS environments.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Datacom database and platform issues.
• Perform database backup, recovery, restore, and administration activities.
• Analyse and optimise database and query performance.
• Support Datacom patching, maintenance, upgrades, and validation activities.
• Provide technical consultancy and support to application and infrastructure teams.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Maintain operational procedures and technical documentation.
• Ensure service stability across critical production environments.

• Strong hands-on experience with Broadcom Datacom/CA Datacom.
• Proven experience as a Datacom DBA and/or System Programmer.
• Extensive experience with:
  • Database Administration
  • Backup & Recovery
  • Performance Tuning
  • Database Restoration
  • Query Optimisation
• Hands-on Datacom patching, maintenance, and system support experience.
• Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS and JCL.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments.
• Spanish language skills.
• Ability to work Mexico-aligned business hours.

• IBM Db2 knowledge.
• Experience supporting large-scale financial services or enterprise Mainframe estates.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments.
