Voice Services Software Engineer
Contract | £375/day Umbrella | Ipswich (3 Days Onsite) | Until March 2027

REED Technology are working with a leading telecommunications and technology organisation who are seeking a Voice Services Software Engineer to support the development of a next-generation voice and contact centre platform.

This role will focus on building and enhancing call service applications within a cloud-based environment, integrating modern AI capabilities into voice services while maintaining highly available telecoms platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java-based voice and call service applications.
  • Build functionality within large-scale telecoms and contact centre environments.
  • Work with cloud-based voice service platforms and communications technologies.
  • Support integrations with Speech AI and conversational AI services.
  • Contribute to the development of a new strategic communications platform.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to deliver scalable voice solutions.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong Java development background.
  • Commercial telecoms, VoIP or unified communications experience.
  • Experience developing SIP or call-handling applications.
  • Exposure to telecom application frameworks such as Rhino SLEE, JAIN SLEE, SIP Servlets or Oracle OCCAS.
  • Understanding of cloud-based service platforms.
  • Experience working within Agile software engineering environments.

Desirable Experience

  • Contact centre platforms.
  • Speech AI, conversational AI or voice automation technologies.
  • CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
