Your roleWe are looking for Packet Core Test Engineer iwho will be responsible for assuring the quality, stability, and readiness of the containerized Packet Core for deployment into live service. The role involves testing, validating, and integrating new software releases and design changes, identifying and mitigating risks, and working closely with stakeholders and vendors to enable a smooth, reliable delivery into operations.In this role you will play a key role in:Manage and support the acceptance and integration of software releases of Containerized Mobile Packet Core through the test cycle.Test Management, Risk Mitigation, Platform Validation and Stakeholder CommunicationYour profileExperience in Integration and/or Test for Mobile Telecoms Packet Core platforms (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G) - preferably Containerized (Docker, Kubernetes) and Cloud-nativeComprehensive knowledge of Packet Core components and functionality (SGSN, MME, SGW, PGW, EPDG, DNS, AMF, SMF, UPF).Hands-on experience with testing, packet capture, and diagnostics tools: Wireshark, Infovista Ativa or equivalentsGood understanding of Linux, Container, and Cloud-native technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, orchestration, and automation.Relevant technical qualifications or certifications: (e.g., degree in Engineering or related discipline, or certifications such as Cisco CCNA-SP or Juniper equivalents).Proficiency in networking protocols and procedures:Core Signalling Protocols: GTPv1/v2, NGAP, Diameter, PFCP, SBI (including HTTP/2, REST/JSON, OpenAPI)Traffic and Transport: IP (IPv4/IPv6), UDP, TCP, SCTP, GREQuality of Service and Policy: 5G QoS Flow, QFI, PCC (Policy and Charging Control), PCF, SMF, UPF policy enforcementMobility and Session Procedures: Attach, Detach, Registration, Handover, Session Establishment, Modification, and Release (GTP, NGAP, PFCP messages)Security: IPsec, Encryption, Authentication, Security Associations, Certificates (TLS)Management and Orchestration: NETCONF, REST, YANG models, ETSI MANO, Kubernetes API, Docker, Container Network Interface (CNI)Other Supporting Protocols: DNS, DHCP, ARP, NTP, BGP, SFTP/FTP, SNMPPerformance and Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, logging and tracingIf you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply, your unique experience could be just what we need.Make it real - what does it mean for you?Open access to digital learning platformsActive employee networks promoting diversity, equity and inclusion like OutFront, CapAbility or is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) under the UK Government's Disability Confident scheme.
