Systems Engineer | Manchester | Outside IR35
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer who is recognised as a technical thought leader across enterprise infrastructure. You'll provide strategic and hands-on leadership across Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, virtualisation, storage and cloud technologies, influencing technical direction while remaining actively involved in the engineering and delivery of complex infrastructure solutions.
Key Skills and Experience of the Systems Engineer:
- Must have expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune.
- Must have strong experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V, SAN, and NAS technologies.
- Proven experience as a technical leader within a large digital transformation project.
- Cloud infrastructure experience in Azure, GCP, and/or AWS.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, patch management, and high-availability design.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including VLANs and routing concepts.
- Experience in games, VFX, animation, or similar technical environments is desirable.
Key Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer:
- Lead the technical direction of Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, SAN and NAS infrastructure, ensuring resilient, scalable platforms.
- Drive the modernisation of Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID and Intune alongside cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Collaborate with development teams on platforms such as Perforce, champion automation, and act as the senior technical escalation point.
- Provide technical thought leadership across Infrastructure, Networking and EUC, guiding architecture, standards and best practice.
