Application Operations Engineer - SC Cleared

We are seeking an experienced Application Operations Engineer to join a key public sector programme supporting the evolution of a critical forecasting platform used by Operational Meteorologists across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the OPV Vortex Support Team, supporting the rollout and ongoing operation of the Vortex platform, a modern solution that launched in 2025 and is set to replace Legacy forecasting systems.

Key Responsibilities

Configure and manage products within the Vortex platform.

Develop and maintain product configurations using:Handlebars.js/Mustache.js for product template logic

Typst for product output layouts

Support the onboarding of new products by working closely with Product Managers, Service Delivery Managers and other stakeholders.

Reconfigure and enhance products following onboarding activities.

Manage incidents, problems and change requests through ServiceNow.

Monitor and maintain application services to ensure reliability, availability and performance.

Investigate and resolve application, service and operational issues.

Contribute to testing activities, system verification and feedback processes.

Support routine maintenance, administration and operational activities.

Work collaboratively within the Vortex Support Team as the service continues to mature and expand.

Essential Skills Experience

Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise applications or application services.

Experience with Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.

Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of issues through to resolution.

Understanding of configuration management and maintaining secure environments.

Experience supporting service availability and performance targets.

Exposure to testing methodologies and executing test scripts.

Desirable Skills

Experience with Handlebars.js or Mustache.js templating.

Exposure to Typst or similar document/layout generation technologies.

Experience within operational support, DevOps, SRE or application support environments.
