The role
You will be embedded as a full-stack developer in one of our small agile development teams. You will collaborate alongside the product owner, tester and other developers to develop features for PowerTrak, one of our leading software products.
Our view of agile software development is inspired by eXtreme Programming rather than Scrum. We focus more on the technical practices that enable agility, such as TDD, Pair Programming, SOLID, Simple Design etc. but we do find some of the rituals useful, such as Daily Stand-ups and Retrospectives.
The product
PowerTrak is a web application that provides comprehensive coverage of the European power markets, enabling users to schedule trades and crossborder flows from the UK down to Italy. PowerTrak is used in-house by the GMSL operations team to provide power scheduling services to a wide variety of customers including large banks, energy and trading companies. It is also licenced by customers who use it within their own operations teams.
The technology
PowerTrak uses a variety of technology, so any experience of the following would be great:

RESPONSIBILITIES Lead on the technical development of client-facing/revenue-driving tools Work with Head of Automation, Head of Data Engineering and other relevant stakeholders to translate the vision on tool ideas into a technical development roadmap. This entails solution design, as well as the planning of MVPs, features, dependencies, infrastructure/environment setup, testing plans, QA, monitoring & logging, maintenance plans, etc. Manage the maintenance and update/upgrade of deployed tools: CI/CD, parity with changing user requirements, technical updates (e.g. changes in third-party APIs), bug fixes, etc Contribute towards the improvement of tools e.g. new features and upgrades Embed best engineering practices across the company so that engineering services are delivered to a consistent quality across clients, offices, in a compliant manner and cost-effectively Further the growth of software engineering capability: As the team - under the postholder's leadership - begins to showcase the business value tools bring to the business, we want to grow the software engineering arm of the team. The Senior Software Engineer is accountable for the successful and efficient development of Croud's client-facing/revenue-driving tools. Key performance indicators include the timeliness with which tools/solutions are delivered, their usage, business value it creates (e.g. additional client revenue), internal (and external where appropriate) client satisfaction, and quality of work (whether the solution is fit for purpose and to the required standard). Croud operates a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days a week based in our London office and the remaining days from home if you wish.
