Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity as a Test Analyst to join a well-established team, with the opportunity for development and career progression?

What you will be doing:

To provide enhanced coordination and comprehensive testing and analytical skills, whether as part of a testing project, within a managed testing service, or as part of a development project for both functional and non-functional testing.

The role may entail team leading and providing advice and guidance on process and good practises to own or other teams. Also provides guidance on testing best practice to other teams.
  • Deliver work to agreed estimates and timescales.
  • Mentor and coordinate the test team.
  • To apply Sopra Steria Testing Processes using Sopra Steria RightTestingTM or client processes (as appropriate).
  • Provide breadth of domain knowledge to support delivery in all areas of testing.
  • Produce a Test Strategy for simple or moderate testing requirements, utilising a risk-based approach.
  • Produce and review Test Plans for simple or moderate testing requirements, in line with the Test Strategy.
  • Develop high level Test Cases (scenarios) and Test Scripts, including expected results, for simple or moderate requirements in line with the Test Strategy.
  • Create and manage test data and specify testing environments for more complex requirements.
  • To support and execute all levels of testing by actively co-ordinating other parties involved in the project and to document and verify test results.
  • To raise, record and monitor details of incidents encountered during testing.
  • Produce metrics on tests executed and incidents raised and proactively facilitate the resolution of errors.
  • To use testing tools, as required and assist with tool evaluation as appropriate.
  • Produce Test Review Reports for simple or moderate testing requirements and ensure best practice information is captured for continuous improvement.
  • Carry out impact analysis of change requests or changing priorities and implement change control and configuration management as appropriate.
  • Undertake estimating for testing activities.
  • To report own and team's progress and issues in a timely manner as defined in the Test Strategy and the agreed team organisation.
  • Escalate issues that might impact on quality or the ability to complete tests according to plan, and to proactively seek appropriate solutions.
  • Carry out and control audits of test plans, scripts and results and support test executions if required by the test strategy.
  • To aid enhancement of knowledge within the team by mentoring and sharing knowledge and best practices.

What you'll bring:
  • At an advanced level able to articulate and demonstrate a good understanding of: Test Management: Responsibilities for the Test Analyst Improving The Testing
  • Process Test Techniques Testing Software Quality Characteristics Reviews Defect Management Test Tools And Automation
  • People Skills - Team Composition
  • Has demonstrable in-depth experience in using common business technology (for example, MS Office suite of tools)
  • Has demonstrable in-depth experience of using business technology within a specific domain; including at least one of the following: applications, infrastructure, security, networks
  • Able to produce a wide range of test deliverables in-line with applicable standards.
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Foundation Level Certification International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Test Analyst Advanced Level Certification
  • Certification of one or more of the programmes listed below: Any - HP ExpertOne Programme Certification ALM QTP Loadrunner Any - Oracle Certified Professional
  • Any - SAP Certified Application Associate Any - Microsoft Certified Professional
  • Demonstrable experience of working as a Senior Test Analyst within large / complex solutions integration programmes / projects
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience using three or more software engineering tools, techniques, methods, at an advanced level, in accordance with recognised standards, specifically: SQL (for example; production of complex scripts to query a relational database)
  • MS Excel (for example; construction of macros to support production of complex dataset queries and builds) PL/SQL, C, VB, or Java (for example; construction of complex procedures and functions to administrate, or drive applications and tools) HP ALM, HP QC (for example; configuration and full lifecycle management of a test suite

It would be great if you had:
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Technical Test Analyst Advanced Level Certification International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Test Manager Advanced Level Certification
  • PRINCE 2 Foundation Team Leadership within a testing team
  • Good knowledge of the latest developments and future strategy for their technology area, and an awareness of its application within past and present Sopra Steria engagements
