Security Engineer - MS Defender, MS Sentinel, Azure ID/Entra ID, M365 E5

Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid - 2 Days Onsite)

Contract Type: Outside IR35

Day Rate: Up to 700 per day

Duration: Initial 6 Months (with potential extension)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer to support and enhance our Microsoft security capabilities across infrastructure, cloud, identity, and business applications. This is a hands-on contract opportunity for a security professional with strong expertise across the Microsoft security stack, including Defender XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Entra ID, and Dynamics 365.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening security operations, improving threat detection, enhancing monitoring capabilities, and securing critical business platforms.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working as a Security Engineer, Cyber Security Engineer, or Security Operations Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Microsoft Defender XDR
  • Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR)
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Microsoft 365 E5 Security
  • Security monitoring and detection engineering
  • Incident response and threat investigation
  • Dynamics 365 (D365) security administration and monitoring
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise security monitoring and threat detection solutions.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft cloud security architecture and best practices.
• Experience working within Azure-based environments.
• Ability to operate independently and deliver security outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills

• Microsoft certifications such as:
  • SC-200 Microsoft Security Operations Analyst
  • SC-300 Identity and Access Administrator
  • AZ-500 Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • SC-100 Cybersecurity Architect
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Previous experience within regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
