Job Title: Lead Infrastructure Engineer - BMC Helix

Location: Manchester or Birmingham

Contract: 12 months, potentially extending to 14 months

Clearance: Active SC clearance required

Rate: Negotiable depending on experience

Project Background:

A major Central Government programme requires experienced BMC Helix Engineers to provide specialist engineering capability across critical operational tooling and infrastructure services.

The engineers will supplement existing teams responsible for IT Operations Management tooling and associated infrastructure platforms, working within a Rainbow Team model alongside internal personnel and existing supplier resources.

The focus will be on maintaining service stability, improving operational resilience and supporting ongoing platform development and service improvement activities.

Role Overview:

The successful engineers will provide specialist support, maintenance and optimisation across the BMC Helix platform suite, including:

• BMC Helix Operations Manager (BHOM)
• BMC Helix Capacity Optimisation (BHCO)
• BMC Helix Discovery

The role will combine hands-on infrastructure engineering and platform support with technical leadership, helping operational teams maximise the value and performance of the existing BMC Helix implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide infrastructure engineering expertise across the BMC Helix platform suite.
• Support, maintain and optimise BHOM, BHCO and BMC Helix Discovery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform and operational issues.
• Improve platform stability, performance and operational resilience.
• Support ongoing platform development activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to operational teams.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and existing supplier resources.
• Help maximise value from the existing BMC Helix implementation.
• Participate in the out-of-hours support rota to maintain service availability.

Candidates should demonstrate strong hands-on experience across:

• BMC Helix Operations Manager (BHOM).
• BMC Helix Capacity Optimisation (BHCO).
• BMC Helix Discovery.
• Enterprise infrastructure/platform engineering.
• Platform support, maintenance and optimisation.
• Incident investigation, troubleshooting and resolution.
• Service improvement and operational resilience.
• Supporting business-critical production environments.
• Technical leadership within complex enterprise environments.

Contract Details:

• This is a long-term Central Government engagement, initially running for 12 months with the potential to extend up to 14 months.
• Candidates must currently hold active SC clearance.
• Rates are negotiable depending on experience and technical alignment with the requirement.
• The successful engineers must also be comfortable participating in an out-of-hours support rota.
