Workshop Engineer (Forklifts)

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE) + Overtime (1.5x)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Role

Based at the Wellingborough site, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a range of forklift trucks and plant machinery within a workshop environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing repairs on forklift and plant equipment
  • Conducting pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new and used machinery
  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding
  • Working on key systems including:
    • Engines
    • Batteries
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatics
  • Reconditioning and preparing equipment for hire or resale
  • Completing job sheets and service records accurately
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working in the plant, agricultural, HGV or material handling industries (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems (essential)
  • Experience with engines and battery-powered equipment
  • Solid fault finding, service, and repair skills
  • NVQ / City & Guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering (advantageous)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
