Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for operational leadership, patient flow and delivering safe, effective care? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a dynamic Lead Bed Manager to join our North Sector Bed Management Team. This pivotal role sits at the heart of hospital operations, ensuring patients are placed in the right bed, at the right time, while supporting safe and efficient patient flow across the sector. Working closely with senior leaders, clinical teams and site flow colleagues, you will use your clinical expertise and decision making skills to influence patient outcomes and service delivery. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Full Time, Permanent
• You will be based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary
• Working Pattern: Rotational, TBC

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate patient flow and bed management activities across the North Sector to support safe and effective care
• Monitor and proactively manage bed capacity, escalating concerns and barriers to patient flow when required
• Facilitate safe and appropriate admissions, transfers and discharges using expert clinical judgement
• Provide specialist advice and support to multidisciplinary teams on capacity, flow and patient placement issues
• Work collaboratively with clinical, operational and discharge teams to maximise bed utilisation and reduce delays
• Ensure accurate recording, reporting and monitoring of patient movement and bed availability data
• Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing colleagues while promoting best practice and patient safety

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience including experience at Band 6 level
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience
• Excellent knowledge of acute hospital services and patient flow within a secondary care setting
• Strong understanding of healthcare pathways, capacity management and discharge planning processes
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to work under pressure
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• Proficient in the use of IT systems and data management tools with the ability to interpret and utilise operational information effectively
