About this Role
We are seeking a skilled Platform Developer to join our Digital & IT Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining cloud native software components that support secure, scalable, and high performing digital platforms across multiple markets. Working within cross functional, product focused squads, you will contribute to the delivery of end to end digital experiences and customer journeys. You will apply modern engineering practices, collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders, and actively support agile delivery methodologies. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering expertise with a passion for building resilient, high quality solutions in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
What you will do
- Build high quality, maintainable software across backend services, APIs, data flows, and integration layers using cloud native and event driven patterns
- Collaborate with Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Delivery Leads to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver incremental value through agile development
- Write clean, secure, and well tested code for microservices, APIs, and integration components; implement solutions aligned to architecture guidelines and platform engineering standards
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, stand ups, retrospectives)
- Contribute to test automation and quality first engineering practices, including unit and integration testing; support CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational readiness to enable reliable and efficient deployment cycles
- Diagnose incidents, resolve defects, and continuously improve platform services; maintain clear documentation and contribute to reusable engineering components
- Support optimisation of performance, scalability, and resilience across services
- Collaborate with external partners where applicable to sustain delivery quality and alignment with engineering standards
Who you are
- An individual who collaborates effectively within cross functional teams and contributes to a supportive team environment; able to take ownership of assigned tasks, identify potential risks, and propose improvements to enhance delivery outcomes
- A clear communicator who ensures shared understanding of requirements, design decisions, and technical challenges
- Experienced in working within agile teams, embracing continuous improvement and iterative delivery; familiar with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Kotlin, Node.js, Python, or Spring Boot
- Knowledgeable in microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and event driven systems
- Comfortable working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerisation (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
- Experienced in automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality tools
- Strong understanding of data structures, integration patterns, and secure coding practices
- Educated to degree level in Computer Science, Engineering, or possessing equivalent practical development experience
