Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and adaptable Office Administrator to join our busy General Practice team. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and can effectively manage multiple competing demands while maintaining a high standard of patient service.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, providing administrative support to clinical and non-clinical staff, and ensuring confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Main duties of the job

The Office Administrator will:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support across the practice.
  • Process incoming correspondence, emails and documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Support patient registration, records management and document workflow processes.
  • Manage and prioritise a varied workload whilst responding to changing service needs.
  • Assist with appointment administration and patient communications where required.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records using Emis, Accurx, Docman and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Support practice projects, audits and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise professionally with patients, clinicians, hospitals and external agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with practice policies, information governance and confidentiality requirements.
  • Undertake additional administrative duties to support the efficient operation of the practice.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualifications:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
  • Good standard of IT literacy.
  • Experience:
  • Previous administrative experience in an office environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience handling confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines.
