Surgical Operations and Development Lead An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Deepings Practiceas our Surgical Services Manager, leading the operational delivery and futuredevelopment of our expanding NHS and private surgical services.
Workingclosely with the Practice Manager and Clinical Lead GP, you will overseeCommunity Surgical Services, NHS Cataract Services and support the growth ofWelland Clinic Ltd. This varied role includes operational management, teamleadership, theatre coordination, patient pathway management, serviceimprovement, business development and ensuring an excellent patient experience.
We arelooking for an organised, proactive and motivated leader with experiencemanaging operational or administrative services. Strong communication,leadership and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the abilityto manage competing priorities and use data to improve performance. Healthcareexperience is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job TheSurgical Operations and Development Lead will play a key leadership role insupporting the delivery, development and growth of Deepings Surgical andWelland Clinic Ltd.
The postholder will provide operational leadership for the Community Surgical Schemeand NHS Cataract Service, whilst working alongside the Clinical Lead GP,Practice Manager and wider team to establish and grow Welland Clinic Ltd.
The rolecombines operational management, team leadership, theatre coordination, patientexperience oversight, business development, marketing support and serviceimprovement.
Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to understand existing Deepings Surgicalpathways in detail and work alongside the CSS Administration Team to ensuresafe, efficient and high-quality delivery of services.
To provideoperational leadership across Deepings Surgical and support the development ofWelland Clinic Ltd, ensuring high-quality patient care while helping expandboth NHS and private surgical services.
About us TheDeepings Practice is a large and progressive GP practice serving over 24,000patients across Market Deeping and surrounding communities. Alongside our NHSGeneral Medical Services contract, we deliver a growing portfolio of specialistcommunity surgical services through Deepings Surgical, including CommunitySurgical Services and NHS Cataract Services.
We are alsodeveloping Welland Clinic Ltd, an independent healthcare company establishedalongside the practice to deliver private surgical, diagnostic and specialisthealthcare services.

Job responsibilities Key Areas of Responsibility
Operational Leadership
A significant part of this role involves leading the day-to-dayoperational delivery of Community Surgical Services and NHS Cataract Services.
You will oversee patient pathways from referral through to discharge,ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and that patients receive aseamless experience throughout their treatment journey. Working closely withclinical teams and administrative staff, you will identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce delays and maximise the utilisation of availablecapacity.
You will monitor waiting lists, theatre utilisation, clinic activity andservice performance to ensure operational targets are achieved. Througheffective planning and coordination, you will support the efficient use ofresources whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Practice Manager andClinical Lead GP to implement service improvements and develop new pathwaysthat enhance both efficiency and patient outcomes.
Team Leadership and Staff Management
The role includes responsibility for the leadership and line managementof the Community Surgical Services Administration Team.
You will provide day-to-day support, supervision and guidance to teammembers, ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills, knowledge andresources required to perform effectively.
You will undertake regular one-to-one meetings, support staffdevelopment and contribute to recruitment, induction and training processes.Building a positive team culture will be an important aspect of the role,helping to ensure that staff feel supported, engaged and focused on deliveringexcellent patient care.
The successful candidate will be expected to promote teamwork, encouragecontinuous improvement and support workforce planning to ensure services areappropriately resourced.
Theatre Coordination and Service Delivery
Working closely with consultants, surgeons, nursing staff andadministrative teams, you will play a central role in ensuring the smoothoperational running of theatre activity.
You will coordinate theatre lists and support the efficient schedulingof procedures, helping to maximise capacity and reduce wasted appointments.Effective communication and organisation will be essential to ensure that allaspects of theatre activity are delivered safely and efficiently.
You will act as a key point of contact for clinical teams, helping toresolve operational issues and ensuring that patients receive timely andeffective care throughout their treatment journey.
The role also includes responsibility for monitoring stock managementprocesses and ensuring that resources required for service delivery areavailable when needed.
Patient Experience and Quality Improvement
Delivering an excellent patient experience is a key priority for bothDeepings Surgical and Welland Clinic Ltd.
You will help ensure that patients receive a professional, efficient andcompassionate service from initial referral through to completion of treatment.You will support the implementation of patient feedback systems and use patientexperience data to identify opportunities for service improvement.
The role involves monitoring patient satisfaction, analysing Friends andFamily Test responses, reviewing patient testimonials and supportinginitiatives designed to enhance the patient journey.
By working closely with clinical and administrative teams, you will helpembed a culture of continuous quality improvement across all services.
Welland Clinic Ltd Development
An important aspect of this role will involve supporting the developmentand operational delivery of Welland Clinic Ltd.
You will assist in establishing new private healthcare services andensuring that robust administrative processes are in place to support privatepatient activity. This includes coordinating private patient pathways,supporting service implementation and contributing to the development ofpatient information materials and communication processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders to helpidentify opportunities for growth and support the introduction of new servicesincluding surgical procedures, diagnostics and specialist healthcare services.
You will contribute to the development of systems and processes thatensure private services are delivered efficiently, professionally and inaccordance with regulatory requirements.
Marketing and Business Development
As services continue to expand, the role will play an important part insupporting marketing and business development activities.
You will help coordinate website content, patient communications andpromotional campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of available services.Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will support thedevelopment of marketing materials and patient information resources.
The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with GPpractices, optometrists, consultants and other referrers to help supportservice growth and increase referral activity.
You will contribute to business development projects, support thepreparation of business cases and identify opportunities for service expansion.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
The post holder will be responsible for producing operational andperformance reports to support decision-making and service improvement.
You will monitor key performance indicators, theatre utilisation,referral trends and activity levels, helping to identify opportunities to improve productivity and service delivery.
Working alongside the Practice Manager and leadership team, you willsupport financial monitoring processes and contribute to service planningactivities.
Strong analytical skills will be required to interpret performance dataand provide meaningful information that supports operational and strategicdecision-making.
Governance, Compliance and Quality Assurance
Maintaining high standards of governance and compliance is a keyrequirement of the role.
You will support compliance with NHS contractual requirements, CQCstandards, information governance regulations and organisational policies. Therole includes supporting audits, quality improvement initiatives, incidentinvestigations and complaint management processes.
