About the role Engineering is a large multi-disciplined 'professional services' engineering practice. The team is organised in key customer focused capabilities which each have sub-capability areas comprising single or multiple engineering delivery projects.Our Engineering mantra is "Technical Excellence in Engineering" and we deliver some amazing technical capabilities for our customers which can only happen if we recruit, train and support our peopleThe purpose of this role is to be technically proficient in an Engineering profession and to deliver work packages on a delivery project This job role is based in London. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance. What you'll be doing 1.Manages the implementation of high-level designs for stable network and infrastructure environments that meet the needs of BT, are shared with partners, and are compliant with current security, privacy, and audit requirements 2. Leads the maintenance of IT Infrastructure components, tools or locations and executes the designs on services (e.g., network, security, storage, compute), which are to be produced in line with design standards 3. Provides advanced technical knowledge and expertise where needed to support managers, principals or technical experts to resolve complex issues 4. Leads the collaboration with stakeholders across application development, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and cyber security teams to implement an effective product roadmap 5. Leads the day-to-day support for internal tools and system health, as well as infrastructure implemented for all projects and managing customer support contracts Essential Skills / Experience Technical Skills: Experience of working with some of the following technologies or similar: VMWare / Virtualisation experience including ESX, VCentre, vCF Windows / Linux / Mac Server / system management experience Containers / Kubernetes / VKS NSX V&T Networking experience Storage management Experience with different scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Bash, Python or Java. Automated system build, using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Foreman, Kickstart (including PXE) and Microsoft Deployment tool kits. IaC, infrastructure automation and orchestration (ideally on VMWare) Desirable Skills / Experience Business acumen: Contributes to formulation of BT Engineering strategy. Influences development of BT technical policy. Creatively applies a wide range of technical and management principles.
