Bristol City Council is seeking an Application Support Officer. The role is responsible for providing reliable, effective application support for the core systems used within the Revenues and Benefits service areas. The applicant will support a large and complex organisation, providing high profile services for the community.
Responsibilities
- Provide application support and administration for a variety of business line applications, including Council Tax, Non Domestic Rates, Business Improvement Districts (BIDS), Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
- Schedule and process revenues and benefits batch work for recovery, housing benefit subsidy/payments, and operational workflow.
- Maintain automated data processing and assist with routine data maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate and undertake release upgrade testing, including bug fixes and new functionality for existing software.
- Work with IT technical teams and suppliers to resolve application issues and recommend improvements.
- Support and improve application efficiencies to reduce manual intervention.
- Lead specific areas of annual billing processing (Council Tax, Non Domestic Rates, Housing Benefit/Council Tax schemes, Business Improvement Districts) between February and March, and between September and November, as needed.
- Communicate with stakeholders and customers, managing expectations and ensuring timely service delivery.
- Work out of hours, including weekends, throughout the year as required.
Qualifications
- Understanding of at least one of the specified business areas (Council Tax, Non Domestic Rates, Housing Benefit, etc.). Knowledge of the specific applications is welcomed but not required.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, able to juggle multiple demands and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic DBS check - required for the role.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a supportive team.
