Engineering Capability Lead - Standards

Location

Hybrid working with a primary office in Derby, Warrington, or Manchester.

Summary

We are looking for an Engineering Capability Lead - Standards to lead the development, embedding and continuous improvement of our engineering standards framework.

Key Deliverables
  • Shape and govern the organisation wide approach to engineering standards, ensuring consistent selection and application.
  • Develop and embed processes for managing international and bespoke standards, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Oversee the authoring, review and lifecycle control of internal standards, supporting quality and usability.
  • Enable access to standards across our engineering community while contributing to industry wide harmonisation and best practice.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience in a standards or technical governance environment.
  • Experience shaping standards frameworks and driving adoption across complex engineering organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, regulatory alignment, and technical documentation.
  • Experience applying systems thinking, audit/assurance principles, and translating requirements into structured, practical solutions.
Location

Hybrid working is offered with an expectation to attend a Rolls Royce SMR office location regularly to support collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Remuneration & Benefits

Salary: £60,000 - £78,750 per annum
Bonus: Performance related target opportunity of 7%
Benefits allowance: £2,200 per annum for bespoke package
Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
Holidays: 28 days holiday plus public holidays, with the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover health care
Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay £250 one off payment

Selection Process

The selection will include an initial conversation with Talent Acquisition, followed by two interview stages. Candidates will be required to obtain BPSS clearance and complete DBS and financial probity checks.
