Job Description

The IT Migration Technician role in Telford involves supporting a large scale Microsoft tenancy migration project. Working Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30, on a temporary contract, you will travel across Shropshire and Staffordshire to assist users.

Location: Telford (with travel across Shropshire & Staffordshire). Salary: Competitive (DOE). Hours: 08:00-16:30 (Mon Fri). Temp contract.

About the Role

Mandated responsibilities include supporting users throughout the Microsoft tenancy migration, ensuring devices, accounts, emails, files and Microsoft services transition to the new tenancy with minimal disruption. The role combines technical tasks with customer service, guiding users through the process, answering questions and ensuring everything is fully operational before sign off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Microsoft tenancy migrations following documented procedures.
  • Reconfigure user devices and accounts for the new Microsoft environment.
  • Migrate Outlook mailboxes, email content, Teams chat history and user data.
  • Ensure personal files and relevant system access are transferred successfully.
  • Configure access to any systems that remain within the legacy Microsoft tenancy.
  • Work directly with end users, guiding them through the migration process.
  • Perform post migration checks to ensure systems are fully operational.
  • Obtain user acceptance and sign off once migrations have been completed.
  • Accurately document completed work and escalates technical issues when necessary.
  • Travel to various company locations to complete scheduled migrations.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in an IT support, desktop support or migration role.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams and Windows environments.
  • Experience configuring user accounts and end user devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Able to follow structured processes and documentation accurately.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing workloads across multiple sites.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
