National Operations Centre (NOC) Support Operative

Location & Salary

Birmingham - Landor Street. Base salary £34,293 per annum plus shift allowance and overtime. Total OTE £40,000 per annum.

Job Overview

Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, providing intermodal and heavy haul rail freight services across Europe. As a National Operations Centre (NOC) Support Operative in Birmingham you will support internal and external customers of the Vehicle Booking System (VBS), Gate Management System (GMS), Transport Operating System (TOPS) and Terminal Operating System (IPRO) and perform general traffic office administration.

Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with VBS, GMS, TOPS, IPRO and freight ticketing systems
  • Provide VBS system training to new internal and external users
  • Manage VBS and GMS exceptions, including booking issues, container or size/type read errors, and EDI (COREOR) exceptions
  • Maintain accurate data in VBS, GMS and Fresh Service ticket management system
  • Provide constructive feedback on new functionality and conduct system testing before release
  • Control internal truck access in GMS where VBS bookings are not required
  • Perform general traffic office admin duties and visual checks of containers for dangerous or hazardous goods
  • Input data into TOPS and IPRO to keep container movement and storage records up to date
  • Support terminal operatives with first line help for IPRO
Key Skills & Requirements
  • Prepared to work shift patterns across a 24/7 time period
  • Diplomatic and tactful approach to conflict resolution with customers and colleagues
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to work to challenging deadlines while maintaining compliance
  • Good understanding of Freightliner operating systems (VBS, GMS, TOPS, IPRO)
  • Proficient in standard office software, especially Excel
  • Good oral and written communication skills; accurate numerical data entry
  • Self motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of TOPS road preferred but not essential
