We are looking for a Mobile/Workshop Engineer to join our NHS Wheelchair Service team. This unique hybrid role combines community based mobile working with hands on workshop engineering, giving you the best of both worlds.

You'll play a vital role in ensuring NHS wheelchair users receive safe, reliable equipment whether that's out in the community or within our workshops at the Exeter Mobility Centre site, helping people maintain independence and improve their quality of life.

In this varied role you will split your time between visiting service users across Devon and working within the Exeter Mobility Centre workshop. Your responsibilities will include:

• Travelling to service users' homes using a Trust vehicle
• Delivering, repairing, maintaining, and collecting wheelchairs
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance (PPMs)
• Demonstrating safe use of equipment to service users and carers
• Repairing, servicing, and re conditioning wheelchair equipment
• Preparing equipment for delivery and ensuring safety standards are met
• Managing stock, parts, and equipment within the workshop
• Supporting refurbishment of returned items, including cushions
• Completing accurate documentation and maintaining records
• Ensuring tools, parts, and vehicles are ready for daily work
• Following infection control and health & safety procedures

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday with rota'd weekend on call shifts

Interview Date: 30th of July

• Ability to travel to community locations across Devon
• Experience or willingness to work with mobile and workshop maintenance equipment
• Knowledge of wheel chair maintenance procedures and definitions of safe operation
• Good communication skills to instruct users and maintain accurate records
• Commitment to health & safety, infection control and team working practices
