Leadership, Talent and Organisational Development Lead

Are you an experienced organisational development professional with a passion for leadership, talent and culture? Do you have a track record of leading change and influencing senior stakeholders within a complex organisation? This is an exciting opportunity to join Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as a Leadership, Talent and Organisational Development (OD) Lead.

This pivotal strategic role will lead the Trust's leadership, talent and organisational development agenda to build leadership capability, foster an inclusive high performing culture, and drive the delivery of our People Strategy. You will partner with Executive Directors, senior leaders and colleagues across the Trust to provide expert consultancy on organisational development, shaping innovative solutions that enhance organisational effectiveness, employee engagement, inclusion and continuous improvement.

You will oversee a specialist team and a broad portfolio that includes leadership and management development, talent and succession planning, coaching and mentoring, organisational development consultancy and culture change programmes.

Main duties of the job
  • Set the strategic direction for the Trust's leadership, talent and OD portfolio, ensuring alignment with the People Strategy, NHS priorities and organisational objectives.
  • Provide expert consultancy to Executive Directors, senior leaders and divisional teams on leadership development, organisational effectiveness, talent management, engagement and culture change.
  • Design, implement and evaluate leadership and management programmes, talent and succession initiatives, coaching and mentoring networks, psychometric assessment processes and organisation wide OD interventions.
  • Use workforce intelligence and organisational data to identify priorities, evaluate impact and deliver sustainable improvements in performance, inclusion and staff experience.
Job responsibilities
  • Extensive professional knowledge acquired through a master's level qualification or equivalent experience in Organisational Development, Organisational Psychology, Leadership, Management or a related discipline.
  • Significant senior level experience in organisational development, leadership, talent management, people strategy or organisational change within a large and complex organisation.
  • Proven experience leading organisation wide change, culture and leadership initiatives and delivering measurable improvements in organisational performance and employee experience.
  • Strong consultancy, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and work across professional boundaries.
  • Experience designing, delivering and evaluating leadership and management development programmes and organisational development interventions.
  • Ability to travel across Trust sites and attend regional and national meetings as required.

Person Specification Education and Training
  • Extensive professional knowledge acquired through a master's level degree or equivalent experience (e.g., MSc Organisational Psychology, Organisational Development or Leadership/Management).
  • Coaching/mentoring qualification or substantial experience of coaching and/or mentoring a range of people.
  • Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Teaching/Training qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Psychometric analysis qualification such as MBTI, Hogan, Insights, Disc (prefers Hogan).
  • Workplace Mediation qualification or willingness to undertake.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Significant senior experience in Organisational Development, Leadership, Talent, People Strategy or Change within a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience developing Trust wide or organisation wide strategies, frameworks, policies or guidance and securing senior stakeholder agreement for implementation.
  • Experience designing and delivering high impact leadership development programmes.
  • Experience delivering, leading and embedding inclusive change initiatives.
  • Experience evaluating and evidencing the impact of learning and development programmes, OD interventions and culture change, including developing ROI measures, KPIs, assurance reports and reporting mechanisms.
  • Experience running focus groups, facilitating group discussions, and leading, managing and developing specialist staff or professional networks.
  • Experience with budget management, resource planning, commissioning, procurement or contract management.

  • Proven strategic skills and the ability to translate and implement organisational strategy into measurable outcomes, including transformational and cultural change.
  • Knowledge of organisational development interventions, models, and facilitation techniques.
  • Excellent facilitation, consultancy skills; able to chair workshops and deliver presentations to all levels.
  • Clear communication of complex and sensitive information, adapting style to the audience.
  • Strong influence, negotiation, and persuasion skills at all levels, maintaining a customer focused, evidence based approach.
  • Innovativeness and willingness to challenge current behaviours to improve service delivery.
  • Strategic thinking, professional judgment, and consideration of organisational, political, cultural, operational and stakeholder factors.
  • Analytical and diagnostic skills to support wider corporate strategy and decision making.
  • Autonomy, prioritisation of complex demands, risk management and decision making with no precedent.
  • Advanced analytical problem solving in high pressure situations.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and resource utilisation skills.
