About this opportunity

We're looking for an experienced User Experience Designer to join our team in Edinburgh. This role will define and enhance the journeys we create for our business customers, supporting them with the right products, tools and services. You will collaborate with a full design team, take full ownership of your design output, present to stakeholders, and adapt designs based on user research and usability testing.

Role responsibilities
  • Skillfully craft the end to end user experience, bringing together a cohesive journey step by step, creatively using components from a central design system to balance content and UI elements on screen.
  • Bring designs to life with a choice of prototyping software, such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, Axure or Adobe XD.
  • Balance business requirements with user needs-gather user research and rationale to align stakeholders on individual user needs.
  • Know when to diplomatically push back, if necessary, to act on what's right for the customer.
  • Be adaptable to technical constraints of different platforms while guiding the best possible end user experience.
  • Advocate customer inclusion, ensuring designs are inclusive and accessible for users of a wide range of ages, backgrounds and technical abilities.
We're looking for someone with:
  • Demonstrable experience within User Experience design/Interaction Design.
  • Strong experience as an Interaction Designer or UX Designer (or possibly from a visual design background).
  • Full ownership of the Interaction Design project.
  • Excellent prototyping and layout skills that can be articulated clearly to internal customers and development teams.
  • Comfortable using existing design systems, proactively recommending ways to improve and extend them for both the project and other designers.
  • Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative research and apply insights to the interaction design process.
  • Familiarity working in a complex landscape-ideally, experience in financial services.
  • A collaborative mindset to work closely and quickly with a multi disciplinary team.
  • Strong ability to see designs through to delivery, communicating with developers to ensure specifications are met and designs are usable by users of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
  • Strong advocacy of customer inclusivity and accessibility.
Benefits
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%.
  • Discretionary annual performance related bonus.
  • Share schemes, including free shares.
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping and 30 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
  • A range of well being initiatives and generous parental leave policies.
Inclusivity

We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture. We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative. We're particularly welcoming of applications from under represented groups.

We're disability confident. If you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
