SharePoint Online Engineer - 1 month Contract - £425/day Inside IR35 - London Hybrid - SCC FLEX CONTRACT

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Online Engineer to lead governance, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across our Microsoft 365 environment. Acting as the SharePoint subject matter expert, you will drive platform governance, storage optimization, automation, information architecture, and life cycle management activities to ensure a scalable, compliant, and sustainable SharePoint estate.

While SharePoint Online is the primary focus of the role, experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, and Microsoft Purview will be valuable in supporting broader governance, compliance, and information management objectives.

Your responsibilities as a SharePoint Online Engineer:

• Serve as the technical SME for SharePoint Online and provide guidance on platform best practices, governance, and operational standards.
• Design and implement governance frameworks, controls, and processes to improve platform consistency, compliance, and user adoption.
• Lead storage optimization and content rationalization initiatives to reduce storage consumption and improve platform efficiency.
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to streamline administration, reporting, and governance activities.
• Design and maintain effective information architecture, metadata, content classification, and life cycle management processes.
• Administer and optimize the SharePoint Online platform, ensuring it remains secure, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
• Support Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 governance initiatives, including retention, compliance, and information management requirements.
• Produce technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures to support the long-term sustainability of the platform.

As a suitable SharePoint Online Engineer, you will have:

• Proven experience as a SharePoint Online Engineer, SharePoint Administrator, or SharePoint SME within an enterprise environment.
• Strong expertise in SharePoint Online governance, administration, and best practice implementation.
• Advanced PowerShell Scripting and automation skills.
• Demonstrated experience delivering storage optimization, content clean-up, and estate rationalization initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of information architecture, metadata management, content classification, and life cycle management.
• Experience implementing governance controls and driving platform maturity improvements.
• Good understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Teams and OneDrive.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, particularly retention, compliance, records management, and information governance, is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of Azure and broader cloud platform services.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
