Job Title: Technical Publications Engineer

Location: Huddersfield 4 days per week OR Derby 3 days per week

Role Type: Contract - OUTSIDE IR35

Duration: 12 months

Rate: £45.00 Per Hour

Candidates must hold British nationality, have lived and worked in the UK for 5+ years, and be eligible for SC security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentations, and assembly/disassembly instructions, and other client facing technical documentation.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models and BOMs to develop user centric documentation.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality.
  • Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent.
  • Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, including maintaining standards, procedures, processes, and SOPs in accordance with national standards, international standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings, providing updates and support on metallurgy function related issues as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in an engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery.
  • Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearboxes.
  • Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with structural design practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearboxes.
