Senior/Lead Service Designers - Remote - 6 months - Outside IR35

Role: Senior Service Designer/Lead Service Designer
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
Contract Length: 6 months
Day Rate: £500 - £550 per day
IR35 Status: Outside IR35

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced Senior and Lead Service Designers to join a high-profile digital transformation programme. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and improve end-to-end services, ensuring they meet user needs while delivering measurable business outcomes.

Working within multidisciplinary agile teams, you will play a key role in designing, mapping and optimising complex customer and operational journeys across a large-scale transformation environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead service design activities across multiple workstreams and products.
• Design and improve end-to-end services informed by user research and evidence.
• Create service blueprints, journey maps, ecosystem maps and operating models.
• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.
• Identify service pain points and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, User Researchers, Business Analysts, Content Designers and Delivery Managers.
• Champion user-centred design principles throughout the project life cycle.
• Translate complex requirements into clear service propositions and recommendations.
• Influence senior stakeholders and support strategic decision-making.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Service Designer within complex transformation programmes.
• Expertise in service design methodologies, tools and frameworks.
• Experience designing end-to-end services across digital and non-digital touchpoints.
• Proven ability to create service blueprints, customer journeys and process maps.
• Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Desirable Experience

• Public Sector, Central Government or GDS experience.
• Experience operating at Lead Service Designer level.
• Background in large-scale digital transformation programmes.
• Consultancy experience.
