Overview
Join our Large Holdings Technology team in Glasgow as a Senior UI Engineer / UI Owner. You will lead the design, development, and evolution of modern web applications supporting regulatory reporting and investment banking platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve high-performance trading, risk management and regulatory platforms.
- Collaborate with traders, strategists, compliance and IT to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient solutions.
- Implement new features, enhancements and functionalities to improve performance, reliability and user experience.
- Maintain and enhance existing trading and risk systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Work within a cloud native architecture (Spring Boot microservices, Kubernetes) to deploy and operate applications in production.
- Translate business and user requirements into effective UI solutions and collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts and engineering teams.
- Lead the UI strategy, including component design, standards, testing, CI/CD, accessibility and performance monitoring.
- Mentor and coach less experienced specialists, providing guidance and technical direction.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage and mitigate risks, and support the control and governance agenda.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in trading platform development.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong React and modern front end engineering expertise.
- Experience designing and delivering intuitive, scalable, high performance user experiences within complex enterprise applications.
- Deep understanding of end to end application architecture, including Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
- Hands on experience with Kubernetes based environments (deployment, monitoring, operations).
- Ability to translate business and user requirements into effective UI solutions.
- Strong problem solving capabilities and experience operating in large scale, highly regulated environments.
- UI/UX design principles and user centred design knowledge.
- Front end testing, quality engineering and accessibility standards.
- CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling and automated deployment practices.
- Data visualisation and reporting application development experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs integration.
- Experience with Kubernetes, monitoring and production operations.
- Experience in the financial services or investment banking domain.
