Balfour Beatty Power T&D are looking for Chief Engineer & Designated Individual (Temporary Works) to join the business in Derby.
The Temporary Works Chief Engineer & Designated Individual (TWCE/DI) is the senior technical authority responsible for the governance, assurance, and oversight of all Temporary Works (TW) activities across Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution (BB PT&D) projects. The role ensures that the organisation's temporary works procedures comply with BS 5975-1:2024 and industry best practice, and that all engineering, risk management, design, approval, and site control processes are robust, auditable, and effectively implemented. The TWCE/DI provides technical leadership, oversight and support to Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs), Temporary Works Supervisors (TWSs), and Temporary Works Designers (TWDs), and acts as the ultimate escalation point for complex or high-risk temporary works matters. They must also promote a proactive team culture and collaboration between different disciplines, communicating lessons learned and best practice.
