You will work closely with underwriting teams, delivering clear, credible risk opinions that inform decisions and strengthen client relationships. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, producing structured reports, drawing on a deep knowledge of claims trends and loss drivers, and shaping how we use data and audit findings to bring greater value to clients and improve retention.

  • Provide detailed and accurate cyber risk advice to assist underwriters with risk selection and pricing, including evaluation of remediation measures following a cyber incident.
  • Participate in underwriting meetings with agents, brokers, and prospective insureds.
  • Conduct highly complex comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats for policyholders.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures to support recommendations while ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Develop and deliver actionable recommendations to policyholders on how to mitigate highly complex cyber risks, overseeing implementation of risk remediation efforts.
  • Assist cyber claims teams when domain-specific expertise improves handling of a cyber claim or incident response.
  • Develop programs and manage resources to help insureds understand and mitigate cyber risks, including access to third-party cyber security vendors.
  • Track developments in the cyber insurance industry and consult on the development of cyber insurance products and services.
  • Identify emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, evaluating their potential impact on individual insureds and Travelers' business.
  • Support enterprise CAT teams in evaluating cyber aggregation risks and responding to cyber aggregation events.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing Cyber Risk Advisory services and develop new offerings to meet client needs.
  • Develop training and education programs related to cyber risks, emerging threats, and cyber risk mitigation and control, and assist in delivering training to underwriters.
  • Research, develop, and prepare relevant materials (risk management factsheets, best practice guides, etc.) and thought leadership for external publication.
  • Represent Travelers at industry events and thought leadership forums.
  • Develop underwriting tools and augmented underwriting opportunities, continuous client network monitoring, outreach, and support.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and participate in risk control activities in Travelers US.
  • Develop standards and success measurements for the Risk Control services.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in IT Risk Management, Cybersecurity, or related disciplines.
  • Certification or advanced knowledge of industry standards/regulations (NIST, ISO, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.) and identification and analysis of existing and emerging cyber threats.
  • Experience managing or developing cyber, IT, industrial control systems or information security controls.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Experience overseeing or conducting independent risk assessments, business process, IT, or industrial control system control auditing.
  • One industry-standard information security certification required (e.g., CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CSX, CFE, PCI); multiple certifications preferred.
What is a Must Have?
  • General knowledge of risk management process.
