IT Manager, enterprise infrastructure services & cloud Why we need this role
The Manager IT Infrastructure (M365, Azure, GCP, Windows & VDI) is responsible for the end-to-end delivery, operation, and performance of critical enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure, GCP, Windows Server, VDI, and Citrix services. The role leads a team of approximately 15 engineers, ensuring the secure, stable, and efficient operation of business-critical services, while delivering roadmap initiatives, platform improvements, and automation outcomes aligned to architecture and strategy.
Working closely with Architecture, Security, Development, and wider Operations teams, the role ensures solutions are delivered, integrated, and operated at scale, with a strong focus on service reliability, security, cost efficiency, and user experience.
The role embeds operational excellence, resilience, automation, and governance, driving standardisation and continuous improvement across cloud, workplace, and identity platforms. Through strong leadership and execution, it reduces risk, complexity, and operational overhead, while improving service performance, stability, and cost control.
What you will do
- Microsoft 365 Platforms: Ownership of collaboration and productivity services (Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune), including service performance, governance, security, lifecycle, and user experience.
- Azure & GCP Cloud: Operational management of cloud platforms including landing zones, subscriptions/projects, connectivity, platform services, and governance controls.
- Windows & End User Platforms: Management of Windows Server and end-user compute platforms, including build, patching, configuration, and lifecycle.
- VDI & Citrix: Delivery and operation of virtual desktop environments, ensuring performance, availability, and user experience.
- Identity & Access: Operational ownership of Active Directory and Entra ID, including authentication, Conditional Access, privileged access, and directory services.
- Cloud Security & Compliance: Enforcement of secure configurations, monitoring, logging, and policy controls across all platforms.
- Standardisation, Automation & Tooling: Leads delivery of standardisation, automation, tooling, and operational consistency across cloud and workplace platforms.
Key Accountabilities
- Service Delivery, Engineering & Operations
- Lead the build, delivery, and operation of critical infrastructure services across M365, cloud, Windows, and VDI.
- Ensure platforms meet availability, performance, and service level expectations.
- Act as senior escalation point for major incidents and service issues.
- Security, Resilience & Service Stability
- Ensure secure-by-design and operational security controls are implemented and maintained.
- Own resilience, recoverability, monitoring, and service continuity across platforms.
- Roadmap Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Deliver platform roadmaps and improvement initiatives in line with architectural direction.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation, efficiency, and service quality.
- Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team (FTE & contingent).
- Build capability across cloud, workplace, and identity domains.
- Ensure effective workload management, prioritisation, and delivery.
- Cross-Domain Collaboration & Integration
- Work with Architecture, Security, Development, and Operations teams to deliver integrated services.
- Ensure solutions are fully transitioned, supported, and operationally sustainable.
- Vendor & Service Management
- Ensure service performance, delivery quality, and issue resolution.
- Operational Governance, Cost & Optimisation
- Ensure services are aligned to standards and governed through full lifecycle.
- Manage operational cost, capacity, and efficiency.
- Drive automation, standardisation, and reduction of technical debt and complexity.

What we're looking for
- Extensive experience leading infrastructure engineering and operations teams in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise across Microsoft 365 and workplace services, Azure and GCP cloud operations, Windows Server, VDI/Citrix, and identity (Active Directory, Entra), with robust knowledge of security, resilience, operational controls, and automation tooling.
- Proven ability to manage business-critical services at scale.
- Strong stakeholder, vendor, and team leadership capability.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Citrix Certified Expert, VMware VCP, Google Cloud Professional Architect) preferred.
