AI-first role that uses Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to speed development and emphasizes rapid, iterative, human-centered engineering.

About the Role

Senior Software Engineer on the Sync Learning & Impact squad responsible for architecting and delivering coach-to-learner and coach-to-manager interaction systems that drive learner retention and demonstrate apprenticeship ROI. Lead technical direction, mentor mid-level engineers, and ship high-quality full-stack features using React and TypeScript while integrating AI-assisted development tools.

Role

Multiverse is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Sync Learning & Impact squad to design and own the technical roadmap for coach-to-learner and coach-to-manager interaction domains. The role focuses on building scalable, high-impact systems that improve learner retention and prove ROI for employer apprenticeship programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and deliver large, complex features from conception to production, balancing speed and system health.
  • Own the technical strategy and roadmap for your domain and lead trade-off decisions.
  • Mentor and elevate mid-level engineers to Feature Lead roles, increasing squad delivery capacity.
  • Produce clean, extensible full-stack code and set the team standard for quality.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to refine requirements and ensure user-centered outcomes.
  • Integrate AI-assisted development tools into workflows to accelerate delivery and reduce repetitive work.
6-Month Focus
  • Architect the foundation for ambiguous coach-to-manager domains where no roadmap exists.
  • Mentor team members and standardize practices for scale.
  • Audit and evolve use of Elixir, React, and TypeScript and establish consistent engineering patterns.
Requirements
  • Senior-level experience building full-stack web applications; demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Expert-level depth in React and TypeScript; Elixir experience is a plus.
  • Strong system design and architectural experience; familiarity with event-driven patterns is beneficial.
  • Proven mentoring and collaboration skills; ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable shipping imperfect solutions quickly, iterating based on data, and making decisions amid ambiguity.
  • Experience or willingness to adopt AI-assisted development tools in daily workflows.
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Elixir (nice-to-have)
  • 27 days holiday plus 5 additional days (1 life event day, 2 volunteer days, 2 company wellbeing days) and 8 bank holidays per year
  • Private medical insurance with Bupa, medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership
  • Wellness resources via Wellhub and access to Spill mental health support
  • Hybrid working model (typically 3 days in office per week for most roles)
  • Work-from-anywhere scheme: up to 10 days per year
  • Weekly informal training and knowledge-sharing, "10% time" for experimentation, and hackathons
  • Regular team social activities and stocked kitchen
Location & Working Pattern
  • Hybrid work offering with in-office collaboration approximately three days per week for most roles; Coaches/Instructors have different office cadence.
  • Company context and policies reference UK-specific checks (DBS), indicating UK operations.
  • This is a Senior-level role (Level 3). Success is measured by technical mastery, domain ownership, feature leadership, mentoring impact, and demonstrable improvements in learner outcomes.
