Job Description

Chief Information Officer UK Insurance (London, Staines or Manchester) - permanent, full time, hybrid.

Location: Angel Court, London, Staines - Willow House.

As the CIO for UK Insurance, you will lead a high performing technology function, shape the technology strategy, drive digital transformation, and oversee large scale programmes to deliver better care and stronger customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the UK Insurance technology function, ensuring it supports business goals and delivers excellent customer outcomes.
  • Define and deliver a clear technology strategy, architecture and roadmap aligned to Bupa's wider strategy.
  • Drive large scale technology and business transformation, including new ways of working such as agile.
  • Oversee the delivery of technology programmes, keeping projects on time, within budget and achieving expected benefits.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to prioritise and deliver key initiatives.
  • Create an open culture encouraging continuous improvement and supporting teams.
  • Build strong relationships with partners and suppliers to support delivery and innovation.
  • Take full responsibility for technology budgets, performance and value for money.
  • Manage risks, including information security, operational resilience and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead, develop and inspire senior leaders and teams, building capability for the future.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience leading technology and transformation in a complex, regulated environment (ideally financial services or insurance).
  • Strong track record of delivering large scale change and measurable business results.
  • Experience shaping and delivering business and technology strategy.
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience developing high performing teams.
  • Commercial awareness, including managing budgets and delivering value.
  • Confidence working across risk, governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply.
  • A collaborative, open approach focusing on delivering the right outcomes.
