About the Role
The Market Oversight Data and Intelligence (MODI) department provides high quality data, systems, and analytical tools to support effective market oversight. In the Data Engineering & Technology (DET) team, you will work end to end with large scale market data, using cloud and big data technologies to prepare, analyse, and present insights through dashboards or analytical outputs. You will support market surveillance, investigations, and help the FCA monitor markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop analytical tooling to enhance market surveillance and investigations for crypto assets.
- Perform systematic and ad hoc analytics to identify prospective cases of market abuse (e.g., market manipulation).
- Collaborate with surveillance analysts to extend MO's platforms for a range of crypto asset classes.
- Apply data engineering and data science techniques to reveal insights into market participants' behaviours.
- Oversee the submission and publication of crypto disclosures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with financial markets and products, specifically crypto.
- Hands on AWS experience (Lambda, Step Functions, Events, Glue).
- Experience applying data engineering/science techniques to trading and market data.
- Strong organisational ability and experience coordinating multiple work streams.
- Quick learning of new tools and techniques.
- Team leadership and collaboration across diverse backgrounds.
- Clear communication of highly technical information.
- Critical thinking and independent problem solving.
- Big data technology experience (AWS Redshift, Apache Spark, EMR).
- Visualization and dashboard skills (Tableau, QuickSight, custom JavaScript).
- Blockchain analytics tools (Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or similar).
