Job Description

Job Title: Market Risk Engineering Developer

Location(s): Edinburgh

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Hybrid - at least two days per week or 40% of time at an office site.

Job Description Summary: Join a rapid application development team embedded in the business, enhancing capability through collaborative solution delivery. Work within the Traded Risk Rapid Application Development team with multi skilled software engineers, risk, change and operational subject matter experts to deliver and support technical solutions and build business functionality for evolving analytical, regulatory and operational deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deliver and support internally developed, connected applications and robust technical solutions in collaboration with technical and business users, recommending options where appropriate.
  • Conduct research into new solutions and prototype new ideas.
  • Analyse problems, provide expert diagnosis and maximise individual skills and collaboration.
  • Develop product specifications and accompanying testing.
  • Support change planning with project colleagues and ensure controlled change delivery.
  • Develop capabilities of the team by providing specialised training in your area of expertise.
Qualifications
  • Over 5 years of experience developing applications, automation and technical solutions in Python.
  • Broad developer experience across a range of technologies, including SQL Server.
  • Working experience with DevOps and change tools, along with experience in software development lifecycle and agile delivery methods.
  • Strong problem solving skills and a growth mindset, with demonstrated effectiveness in learning and applying new skills and in applying AI to solution development.
  • Experience delivering applications and technical solutions covering content in market and/or counterparty risk.
  • Desirable: experience delivering complex information simply and concisely to non technical audiences; AI assisted development and deployment (e.g., Vibe coding) to build applications via AI using natural language.
