We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Public Cloud) to join our Public Cloud Services Lab, where we design and deliver secure, scalable cloud platforms across Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You'll play a key role in enabling API first services, integration platforms, and cloud native solutions, supporting teams to deliver at scale through automation, reusable patterns, and engineering excellence.
About the team
The Public Cloud Services Lab provides centrally managed cloud services with a focus on:
- Security, scalability, and resilience
- Platform engineering and automation
- Developer experience and self service platforms
- AI driven efficiency and continuous improvement
We build ready to consume cloud services that make it easier for product teams to onboard, integrate, and run critical workloads. Key responsibilities
- Design, build and operate cloud platform capabilities using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Deliver solutions across Azure and GCP, supporting API Gateway and integration platforms
- Embed secure by design principles across development and runtime environments
- Define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs)
- Implement observability, monitoring, and performance optimisation to improve reliability
- Enable API first delivery through reusable patterns and developer enablement
- Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to evolve cloud platform strategy
- Mentor engineers and contribute to platform engineering standards and communities of practice
What we're looking for: core skills
- Experience designing and delivering large scale, distributed systems with strong focus on performance, availability and resilience
- Hands on expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Harness)
- Strong knowledge of containers and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g. Istio)
- Knowledge of API design and security (REST, OpenAPI, authentication, authorisation, mTLS)
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash or PowerShell
- Experience defining and managing SLOs/SLIs
- Cloud expertise (GCP preferred)
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Armor, Istio (service mesh), Cloud Monitoring / Stackdriver
Desirable experience
- API management tools (e.g. Apigee)
- CI/CD tooling (e.g. Harness)
- Secrets management (e.g. HashiCorp Vault)
- Monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace)
- Container tooling (Docker, Buildah, Podman)
- Experience with Node.js for API tooling
- Relevant Azure or GCP certifications
