Job Description

Location Great Abington, Cambridge CB21 6AD (Agile; approximately 2 days a week from our office)

This is an exciting time to join as we are embarking on an ambitious Digital, Data and Technology (DDT) Programme to enable the organisation to reach its ambitious goal of raising £120m by 2033. This hands on role will be responsible for ensuring that IT services are successfully delivered across the charity by maintaining and improving the IT environment including the management infrastructure, storage, network and systems across the organisation. Maximising value and mitigating risks through the migration of on premise infrastructure into the cloud. Ensuring a reliable, resilient, high performing and scalable IT environment is delivered. Working in collaboration with Cyber Security colleges to implement security best practice. In addition, this role will identify opportunities to ensure the technology, systems and tools used are fully integrated and embedded throughout the charity, with a view to maximising performance, optimising efficiency and creating a sustainable platform for future growth.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Migration and maintenance of hybrid infrastructure

  • Migration of core organisational services from on premise infrastructure to cloud solutions
  • Management, administration, monitoring and maintenance of on-premise virtual and physical hardware, software and services
  • Management, administration, monitoring and maintenance of Microsoft Azure cloud environment
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with Managed Network MSP
  • Management, administration, monitoring and maintenance of end user hardware
  • Ensure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans are developed and tested

Systems Administration

  • Management, administration, monitoring and maintenance of ARUK's cloud services
  • Management, administration, monitoring and maintenance of Office 365 tenancy
  • Management, administration and monitoring of backups
  • Provide support and guidance through Line Management of Infrastructure Engineer

IT Projects

  • Working on projects of differing complexity, from initial requirement gathering, planning, implementation, rollout and testing
  • Input into Operational and Strategic planning process
  • Provide regular feedback on project progress to stakeholders
  • Assist Systems Administrator in their project work and complete any delegated tasks

Escalations

  • Complete comprehensive troubleshooting of escalated tickets from Service Desk
  • Document troubleshooting steps and progress and/or call closure details within the ticketing system
  • Feedback to wider team on ticket trends or common issues occurring including potential security threats

Security

  • Collaboration with Cyber Security & Information Manager to design and implement approved security controls and services
  • Ensure Infrastructure and systems are delivered in line with ARUK's Cyber Security and Data policies and principles.
  • Highlight all security risks Cyber Security & Information Manager
What we are looking for:
  • Extensive experience in Service Management / Service Delivery, with a proven track record of driving performance and improving service outcomes.
  • Strong leadership capability, combining hands on operational expertise with both short- and long term strategic vision.
  • Effective people manager, experienced in team leadership, line management, motivation, and coaching to develop high performing teams.
  • Skilled in workload planning and prioritisation, ensuring team delivery aligns with agreed targets and organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving ability, with a proactive and solution focused mindset.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines in fast paced environments.
  • Exceptional listening skills, open to feedback and adaptable, with a natural curiosity and commitment to continuous improvement.
