About the role As a Public Cloud Second Line Engineer, you’ll provide advanced, customer‑facing technical support across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 within a managed services environment. Senior Infrastructure Engineer £70,000 + 10% Bonus Hybrid Working - Manchester Here at Burns Sheehan, we are working with one of sports most globally recognised brands as they undergo a significant evolution across its technology landscape, with a clear focus on modernising infrastructure across both cloud and on-prem environments. They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in shaping and supporting a hybrid estate, combining traditional infrastructure with modern cloud platforms. This is a hands on position with real ownership, supporting critical systems in a high performance, real time environment. This role would suit someone comfortable operating across both cloud and legacy infrastructure, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and operational excellence but a focus towards Cloud and DevOps Technologies. Core Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure across Azure, some AWS, and on-prem environments Provide 3rd line support across M365, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, and Windows Server Manage core infrastructure including networking, virtualisation, storage, and endpoint environments Support critical operational systems including live event and business critical platforms Drive improvements across monitoring, performance, and system availability Work closely with security and data teams to ensure systems are secure, compliant, and optimised Mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation and best practices Essential Requirements: Strong experience across Azure within hybrid environments Solid background in Microsoft technologies including M365, Intune, and Windows Server Good understanding of networking principles (DNS, VLANs, firewalls, load balancing) Experience with security tooling such as Defender, Sentinel, and identity/access controls Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues at a 3rd line level Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to operate under pressure Exposure to CI/CD and automation tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, Scripting experience and IAC knowledge (Nice to Have) Understanding of ITIL and security standards such as ISO27001 (Nice to Have) This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced, high impact environment where technology plays a central role in operations.
