Senior Business Analyst Financial Planning & Delivery (Annex 21)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Wales Performance & Improvement Financial Planning & Delivery Directorate as a Band 7 Senior Business Analyst.

This post is also offered under Annex 21 of the NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. Applications are welcomed from part-qualified candidates at Band 6 level, who will be supported through a structured developmental pathway to achieve Band 7.

The role offers the opportunity to engage with Health Boards and Trusts across NHS Wales, offering intelligence and insights by triangulating patient outcomes, financial data and healthcare activity, supporting financial sustainability and improvement across the system.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will include playing a pivotal role in producing robust and effective financial analysis & intelligence in order to contribute to the Directorate's delivery objectives. You will be working as a partner with organisations across NHS Wales to support individual organisations to be in sustainable financial health whilst meeting future system challenges. The post holder will be a CCAB/CIMA qualified finance professional, supporting the Assistant Directors in the robust monitoring of in-year plans and key areas of delivery. This includes the development of monthly reports for organisations analysing financial trends and the application of analysis tools to scenario test and risk assess organisations' performance and forecasts.

Applications via Annex 21 will be accepted from both internal and external candidates who are actively working towards, or nearing completion of, a recognised CCAB or CIMA qualification.

In these circumstances, salary will be applied in accordance with Annex 21 of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service and will be subject to the achievement of agreed milestones within a structured development plan:

  • Up to 12 months prior to full CCAB/CIMA professional membership: 75% of the top of Band 7
  • More than 12 months but less than 24 months prior to full CCAB/CIMA professional membership: 70% of the top of Band 7

Internal Band 6 candidates appointed under Annex 21 will not experience any detriment to their existing pay.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
