Senior Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure / Highways Wolverhampton, West Midlands

£60,000 to £73,000 + Package

A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team delivering a major transport and highways improvement programme across the West Midlands. This is a high profile, multi scheme programme focused on upgrading key transport routes and infrastructure, offering long term stability, complex project exposure, and excellent career progression within a well established contractor.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for multiple work packages within a fast paced infrastructure environment. You'll work closely with operational teams and the client, ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and effective commercial delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

A strong working knowledge of NEC contracts is essential, as you will play a key role in managing compensation events, change control, and contractual communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercial management of a multimillion £ transportation project in the West Midlands
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts
  • Carry out contract administration (NEC)
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, and final accounts
  • Assess, manage, and negotiate compensation events and variationsOversee applications for payment and cash flow management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal delivery teams
  • Support and mentor junior commercial team members
  • Drive value engineering and cost efficiency initiatives
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, highways, or civil engineering projects in the UK
  • Strong and demonstrable experience working with NEC contracts (essential)
  • Experience managing multiple work packages or schemes simultaneously
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management expertise
