Swindon, Newport - flexible and hybrid working options
It's an exciting time to join UKSBS as we transform our business to become the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi platform, digitally enabled organisation.
Due to continued expansion and an ambitious transformation agenda at UKSBS, we are growing our Project Management team. Over the past 12 months, the team has doubled in size, reflecting increased demand and the critical role project delivery plays in supporting our organisation and customers. We're now looking to bring in talented project professionals who want to be part of a growing, high impact team and help shape the next phase of our journey.
You will lead the end to end delivery of one or more projects or workstreams within the Pension Programme, ensuring effective governance, stakeholder engagement and delivery of agreed outcomes. This includes managing dependencies across systems, suppliers, internal teams and client organisations in a complex public sector environment.
Our work spans initiatives that deliver outcomes that matter, including:
- Pension change and people centred transformation
- ERP and IT system enhancements (Oracle Fusion, Workday)
- Process improvements across HR, payroll, finance and operations
- Regulatory and compliance driven change
- Business readiness and organisational change initiatives
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of allocated technical project(s) or taking responsibility for a workstream or workpackage as part of a large organisational and system transformation programme within the UKSB Programme portfolio, delivering on time, within budget and to the agreed quality, and realising the projected benefits.
- Lead complex and/or politically sensitive projects from inception to delivery into live service, maintaining project momentum and focus.
- Establish and maintain the appropriate project governance, set up and manage delivery teams in a matrix structure.
- Utilise effective project management disciplines and techniques to ensure successful delivery.
- Flexible in using Agile and Waterfall approaches, as appropriate to the project.
- Communicate information about the project to the organisation(s) and stakeholder groups as necessary.
- Agree on the work packages to tolerances for time, quality and cost, communicating overall strategic guidance for the project, and managing and escalating any risk(s) and issues associated with the project(s) with the appropriate escalation route.
- Manage any quality assurance activity required for the project.
- Lead the project team to deliver high quality outputs according to the defined plan(s).
- Work with senior stakeholders from clients and delivery partners to define and manage expectations and facilitate issue resolution.
- Provide advice on direction to the Project/Programme Board.
Here, you're supported to think ahead, manage risk proactively, and keep stakeholders aligned - all within a structure designed to help you succeed.
To be considered for the role, you will need the following:
- A proven work history as a project manager, ideally within a transformation or change capacity.
- Good working knowledge and experience of using Project Management frameworks, disciplines and policies (e.g. Agile, SAFe, PRINCE2 or PRINCE2 Agile, Managing Successful Programmes).
- Knowledge of change management implications, techniques and practices.
- Good range of technical, business and commercial knowledge.
- Good understanding of risk management, including methods and techniques for the assessment and management of risk.
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills at mid management and department level including with clients and suppliers.
- First class relationship management skills, including all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external.
- In depth experience of leading change through the full project lifecycle.
- Competent using Jira and MS Project.
