The duties for this role include, but are not limited to the following: Functional lead for resolving issues and delivering change requests for HR and Payroll aspects of our ERP system. Identify opportunities to replace, upgrade and improve people and system processes by providing subject matter expertise (SME), guidance, advice, and input into architectural, technical, design and implementation solutions. Document change, continuous improvement, projects-based and business as usual (BAU) support requirements & system specifications with a high degree of accuracy, interfacing with key stakeholders to clarify, refine and validate. Build and maintain effective working relationships with Clients, 3rd Party suppliers, and System Implementers. Work with, and support, Product Delivery Leads, Technical team leads, and other Digital & Information (D&I) teams and stakeholders to support and lead on testing activities ensuring issues are recorded / resolved. Communicate information at the right level to drive decisions and actions. Flexibility may be required to respond to the changing needs of the organisation and the service. You may also be asked to support with ad hoc projects and pieces of work relevant to your role in line with business requirements. Provide coaching/training to clients/team members to increase technical knowledge. Proven ability to produce clear requirements and functional specifications for system enhancements and regulatory changes. Effective cross-team collaborator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships. Experience working within a shared service environment would be advantageous. Demonstrable ability to lead minor projects, releases, and change initiatives. Technical proficiency with PL/SQL, Java, BI Publisher, and similar tools. Understand delivery and project methodologies, including Agile, Prince2, and ITIL. British Antarctic Survey Contract type -Open-ended appointment Location -Cambridge and Antarctica Salary -£46,444-£51,088 (UKRI Band D S1) Closing date -10 May Background The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) are looking for an IT and Data Manager to join their IT and Data Management teams. This is a dual role, split across the two teams. Though based in Cambridge, this role will involve regular duty in the polar regions, principally at the Halley VI Research Station. The core tasks of this role are to: Develop and maintain scientific and operational IT systems at Cambridge and then deploy and maintain such systems in the polar regions. Develop and maintain data systems for a suite of scientific instruments at Halley VI Research Station studying the atmosphere and geo space. You will also be responsible for producing maintenance plans for these systems and identifying future improvements. We are looking for someone with a BTEC or National Diploma in Computing, or equivalent working experience. You will need to have experience with a variety of operating systems, programming languages, and experience with virtualisation. This role will involve regular periods of time in the polar regions so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable with remote working and have excellent team working skills for living and working in this unique environment. Purpose To develop and maintain scientific and operational IT and data systems. To deploy and maintain such systems in Polar Regions. Duties To implement, maintain and enhance IT and data services in Cambridge and those deployed in Polar Regions. To provide day-to-day end user IT support while at Halley. To develop systems/solutions for Cambridge and deployment in Polar Regions. To monitor deployed systems in order to produce plans for maintenance and future improvement. To fully contribute to the work of IT/DM and BAS as appropriate. To carry out all work in a safe and professional manner.
