Role Purpose
To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms. The goal is to ensure reliability, scalability, and security of the infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Build engineering: develop, deliver, and maintain high quality infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use.
- Incident management: monitor IT infrastructure and system performance, identify, address, and resolve issues, vulnerabilities, or outages, and use data to reduce mean time to resolution.
- Automation: develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, using scripting and coding disciplines.
- Security: implement secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber attacks and other threats.
- Teamwork: collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Learning: stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities.
Qualifications
- Experience with Ansible for database server configuration.
- Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Git, Jira, and database CI/CD tools.
- Working knowledge of coaching SRE practices across large organisations.
- Working knowledge of MongoDB.
- Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation or migration tasks.
- Additional technical skills in risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital technology are valued.
