Job Description

The Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer will join a 24/7 Technology Operations Command Centre based at Hill View House, Newtownabbey.

Working pattern: 4 on / 4 off. Day shifts: 07:00-19:00. Night shifts: 19:00-07:00.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Juniper MIST.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN and telecom services, minimizing service impact.
  • Log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through the full lifecycle, maintaining accurate updates and documentation.
  • Work within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure timely resolution and high first time fix rates.
  • Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance activities, including deploying patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes.
  • Produce clear incident reports, shift handovers, and technical documentation.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or external vendors when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, remaining calm under pressure.
Qualifications
  • Practical experience troubleshooting routing & switching technologies.
  • Experience as a Network Engineer in an enterprise or service provider environment.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience supporting multi vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, AWS).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting and ticketing systems (SolarWinds, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy).
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and the ability to remain calm during high severity incidents.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
  • Team oriented with confidence to take ownership of incidents and decisions.
  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification desirable; CCNP, JNCIA advantageous.
  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance.
