Job Description

Freightliner is a leading UK rail freight operator providing intermodal and heavy haul services across Europe.

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for winning new business and achieving volume and revenue targets by building a strong pipeline of prospects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a sales plan that exceeds volume and revenue budgets.
  • Proactively generate a new business pipeline to secure sufficient active prospects for the financial year.
  • Follow and refine the new business sales process to improve win rate.
  • Ensure all pricing is profitable and maximised, working with the commercial team for clear pricing visibility.
  • Identify market demand gaps and liaise with the commercial team to address them.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and produce KPIs to measure effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Communicate new business prospects to operations for capacity assessment.
  • Represent Freightliner at relevant external events.
Key Requirements
  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Experience in new business development, preferably within transport or supply chain.
  • Strong leadership and clear communication skills.
  • Financial literacy and experience in price optimisation.
  • Ability to adapt to commercial challenges and changes.
  • Effective prospect interaction and communication.
  • Experience collaborating with commercial and operational teams.
  • Familiarity with best practice new business sales processes.
