Head of IT

Location Remote (Required to attend the office in Maidstone 1 day a week)

We are seeking a visionary Head of IT to lead Apogee's internal IT operations across the UK and Europe. This is a pivotal role for an experienced leader who combines strategic foresight with operational excellence.

Reporting to the IT Director, you will oversee a multi disciplinary team of 13 covering infrastructure, networking, systems administration, end user computing, application development, and service delivery. You will ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and high performing - while driving innovation and alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Execute the internal IT strategy aligned with business and HP technology standards.

• Lead technology modernisation initiatives - from cloud adoption to network optimisation.

• Oversee IT operations and service delivery across multiple UK and European sites.

• Manage budgets, vendors, and performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.

• Champion cybersecurity, compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIS2, DORA), and governance.

• Develop and mentor a high performing IT team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

• Lead key change programmes including ERP implementation, system migrations, and infrastructure transformation.

• Partner with HP and senior leaders to identify opportunities for digital enablement and automation.

A typical working pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30, with a one hour lunch break. This is a hybrid role with 1 day per week expected in Maidstone.

• Proven IT leadership in a complex, multi site organisation (500+ employees).
• Expertise across infrastructure (VMWare, Simplivity), cloud (Azure/O365), networking and end user computing.
• Strong understanding of IT security, governance, and compliance.
• Experience in managing IT budgets, vendors, and transformation programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at an executive level.
• A people focused leadership style that builds trust, inspires performance, and encourages innovation.
