Role Overview
As a Senior Product Designer, you will play a key role across two significant workstreams, shaping both customer facing and internal experiences that support an evolving aggregation and distribution strategy. You will lead discovery, influence product direction, and bring strong design leadership into cross functional teams. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, commercial stakeholders, and external partners to solve complex problems, deliver high quality experiences, and help shape how we evolve our design practices, tooling, and ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Own the end to end design process across two key B2B and B2B2C product areas, from discovery and problem definition through to detailed specification, UI design, and developer handoff.
- Lead collaborative discovery activities including workshops, whiteboarding sessions, rapid research sprints, and cross functional alignment sessions to ensure teams are solving the right problems before building solutions.
- Design scalable and intuitive experiences for external rail operators, travel partners, white label platforms, and internal operational tooling used across Trainline.
- Translate complex partner and carrier requirements into clear, developer ready design solutions that balance business goals, technical constraints, and customer needs.
- Deliver features across the Trainline Business suite and associated platforms, including areas such as seat maps, fare displays, carrier integrations, and operational workflows.
- Build strong and trusted working relationships with Product, Engineering, commercial teams, and external stakeholders, contributing actively to planning, strategy discussions, and delivery rituals.
- Manage multiple workstreams in a fast paced product environment while maintaining a high standard of craft, clarity, and attention to detail.
- Contribute to the evolution of Trainline's broader design practice, including experimentation with AI assisted workflows, tooling, and new ways of working.
Qualifications
- Experience designing complex B2B or B2B2C products, including enterprise tooling, operational platforms, or mobile and web based experiences with multiple stakeholder groups.
- A systems thinking mindset and a strong appreciation for scalable design patterns, detailed specifications, logical user flows, and thoughtful handling of edge cases.
- Confidence leading discovery activities and facilitating collaborative workshops that help teams align quickly around problems, opportunities, and priorities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust, influence decisions constructively, and collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, commercial teams, and external partners.
- A delivery focused and hands on approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and execution while managing several parallel initiatives.
- Experience using data, experimentation, customer insight, and research to inform decisions and measure the impact of design outcomes.
- The ability to communicate design decisions clearly through compelling storytelling, presentations, and detailed developer ready specifications.
- Adaptability in evolving environments and an openness to experimenting with new tools and AI assisted ways of working. Experience with tools such as Figma, Codex, Claude Code, or similar platforms would be helpful.
