Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated CT Radiographer to lead our busy CT department. You will work closely with the Superintendent and Clinical Specialist to deliver a high quality service for our patients whilst meeting waiting list targets.

You will oversee the day-to-day running of the CT department and line manage the Superintendent and Clinical Specialist. You will also work closely with the Imaging Manager and Service manager to monitor waiting lists and develop new pathways.

You will work closely with the North East London (NEL) CT network to share ideas and strategies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a pivotal role in both the operational and clinical aspects of the CT service at Whipps Cross Hospital. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Being responsible for ensuring the 3 CT scanners are run in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Maintaining an expert level of technical knowledge within the modality.
  • Providing a high-profile clinical specialist support to the CT Radiographers and to the department.
  • Liaising with departmental Superintendent Radiographers with respect to staffing and other resource issues and be responsible for the management of dedicated CT staff.
  • Interacting with senior members of the hospital staff reporting and advising on service demands and delivery.
  • Articulating knowledgeably and effectively on complex technical issues to all service users.
  • Standardising protocols, managing patient bookings and waiting lists in line with national targets.
  • Ensuring CQC, IRR and IRMER requirements and responsibilities are met.
  • Ensuring Clinical Governance is regularly reviewed and up to date.

Knowledge
  • Up to date knowledge of NHS organisational challenges and developments in relation to CT scanning
  • Knowledge of organisational funding flows and the complexities of reporting in a complex organisation
Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent
