We are looking for an Information Governance Officer to help build Information Governance (IG) capacity across Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). You will support colleagues at every level to work confidently and compliantly with information, and you will help sustain high-quality records management practice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day oversight of the management and delivery of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and support the organisation to meet statutory timescales.
- Develop and support a network of FOI leads across HIS to embed the corporate FOI policy and good practice.
- Maintain and report on key IG tools and registers, including the Corporate Information Asset Register, FOI and DPA request logs, information security incidents log, DPIA register and the Register of Processing Activities (RoPA).
- Support the development and delivery of IG training (FOI, data protection, information security, records management and Microsoft 365)
- Provide authoritative IG advice to colleagues across HIS (working with the IG Lead and Senior IG Officer)
- Represent HIS on national IG forums and networks as appropriate, contributing to NHS Scotland-wide IG initiatives.
Successful applicant will:
- Be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience.
- Demonstrate knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relating to Information Governance, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information, Records Management, Data Protection and Information Security within NHS Scotland.
- Demonstrate experience of supporting statutory information request processes and applying data protection and records management requirements in a complex organisation.
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing demands to tight timescales.
