OverviewThis is an opportunity for a technically minded individual to apply fluid flow and heat transfer principles to the development of next generation thermal energy devices. Based within the University of Sheffield AMRC Design & Prototyping Group, you will support a team recognised for its work in engineering design and industrial research.
In this role, you will use your simulation experience to provide technical support for thermal analysis projects. You will be responsible for performing calculations and developing solutions to heat transfer problems using hand calculations, CFD and FEA tools, contributing to the group's overall research output and reputation for high quality computational analysis.
For this role, you will need effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with all staff members in a diverse team. You should be able to manage and prioritise your work to meet project deadlines, solve problems in a variety of situations and have a willingness to learn.
This role is a fixed term, 12 month placement under which you will engage in on and off the job learning and development activities. For the duration of the post, you will be supervised and mentored by a senior engineer from the Digital Design team. Through the interactions with the DPG project teams, you will work on providing solutions to a diverse range of engineering challenges.
