Job Description

What you'll be doing

Working in a small team under the direction of a team leader, you'll collaborate with emergency services, local bus operators, maintenance engineers, utility companies and external contractors, and will make frequent contact with members of the public. You'll use CCTV cameras to monitor the highway network, identify problems, and manage traffic signal operation to reduce the impact of incidents and roadworks. Using Intelligent Transport Systems you'll influence traffic flow, coordinate multi agency response to incidents and disseminate information to road users via social media and roadside signs. You'll coordinate maintenance operations, answer phone calls and emails from stakeholders, and travel to sites to inspect traffic signals and meet with contractors and members of the public.

What you'll need

You'll have strong administrative experience with the ability to follow procedures and make appropriate decisions in a fast paced environment. You should be positive, committed, proficient in IT and possess excellent communication skills. You'll be able to work calmly under pressure, think logically and methodically, and apply sound judgement in difficult situations. You must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with members of the public, external contractors and clients as well as internal colleagues. A full clean driving licence is required.
